Karen Finneyfrock is a poet, novelist and teaching artist in Seattle, WA. Her young adult novel, The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door, is due from Viking Children’s Books on February 21, 2013.Her second book of poems, Ceremony for the Choking Ghost, was released on Write Bloody press in 2010.  She is a former Writer-in-Residence at Richard Hugo House in Seattle and teaches for Seattle Arts and Lectures’ Writers-in-the-Schools program. In 2010, Karen traveled to Nepal as a Cultural Envoy through the US Department of State to perform and teach poetry and in 2011, she did a reading tour in Germany sponsored by the US Embassy.

That’s the day the trouble started.
The trouble that nearly ruined my life.
The trouble that turned me Dark.
The trouble that begs me for revenge.

Celia Door enters her freshman year of high school with giant boots, dark eyeliner, and a thirst for revenge against Sandy Firestone, the girl who did something unspeakable to Celia last year.

But then Celia meets Drake, the cool new kid from New York City who entrusts her with his deepest, darkest secret. When Celia’s quest for justice threatens her relationship with Drake, she’s forced to decide which is sweeter: revenge or friendship.

This debut novel from Karen Finneyfrock establishes her as a bright, bold, razor-sharp new voice for teens.

Before Drake went inside for dinner, he turned to me and yelled, “See you tomorrow at school.” I kept replaying those words in my head as I walked home. At school reverberated at the end of each line, the way a bell keeps singing for a few seconds after you ring it.

Beautiful, wild-chid Nicole Tepper is hit by a car and left for dead. But when she wakes the next morning, Nicole finds herself in bed without a scratch. Perhaps she was more intoxicated than usual, as her mother is giving her the silent treatment and her friends are ignoring her as well.

Things take a turn for the weird when Nicole soon discovers she is actually hovering between life and death. Her body is lying in the forest while her spirit is searching for anyone who can hear her. Unfortunately the only person who can is Dale Finnigan, the guy she publicly humiliated with a sharp-tongued insult that has left him branded.

Desperate, Nicole has no choice but to haunt Dale and convince the freaked-out senior to help her. Will he find her body before it's too late? Or will the guy who tried to kill her with his car, beat him there and finish her off before anyone finds out?

Sacred by Elana K Arnold, Blog Tour

Welcome To Best Book's stop on this tour.  we have today a spotlight, review and a awesome giveaway. this book is amazing, everyone needs to read it :)

ELANA K. ARNOLD completed her M.A. in Creative Writing/Fiction at the University of California, Davis. She grew up in Southern California, where she was lucky enough to have her own horse--a gorgeous mare named Rainbow--and a family who let her read as many books as she wanted. She lives in Long Beach, California, with her husband, two children, and a menagerie of animals. She is represented by Rubin Pfeffer of the East/West Literary Agency. Sacred is her debut novel.

Growing up on Catalina Island, off the California coast, Scarlett Wenderoth has led a fairly isolated life. After her brother dies, her isolation deepens as she withdraws into herself, shutting out her friends and boyfriend. Her parents, shattered by their own sorrow, fail to notice Scarlett's pain and sudden alarming thinness. Scarlett finds pleasure only on her horse, escaping to the heart of the island on long, solitary rides. One day, as she races around a bend, Scarlett is startled by a boy who raises his hand in warning and says one word: "Stop."

The boy—intense, beautiful—is Will Cohen, a newcomer to the island. For reasons he can't or won't explain, he's drawn to Scarlett and feels compelled to keep her safe. To keep her from wasting away. His meddling irritates Scarlett, though she can't deny her attraction to him. As their relationship blossoms into love, Scarlett's body slowly awakens at Will's touch. But just when her grief begins to ebb, she makes a startling discovery about Will, a discovery he's been grappling with himself. A discovery that threatens to force them apart. And if it does, Scarlett fears she will unravel all over again.

First off thank you to the publisher for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was full of so many emotions,  grief from the brother dying,  laughter from the friend lily’s antics.  It was an emotional rollercoaster ride and I loved every minute of this book.

The main character scarlett is coming to turns with her brothers death and her family feeling like they are falling apart.  The only time she feels alive is when she is with her horse. Then she meets will and its an instant attraction.  Things happen from there,  how he is always there when she needs him,  when he reveals why he is there when she needs him, it opens up a whole new beginning for scarlett.
Will is a complete swoon worthy character, loved reading about him and his background.
Lily, scarlett’s best friend is a tornado, she is a bubbly character, doesn’t conform to anything, loved reading her bits, she was a riot .

The world building and the voice in this book really drew me in, the author managed to write her book with the right amount of description,  I felt as if I was really there living it with scarlett.
Read it in one sitting it was that good, too hard to put down.

This is a wonderful debut novel from the author and I cant wait to read sacred’s sequel splendor when it comes out this year.

If you haven’t picked up this book, what are you waiting for?  Go out and buy it

Splendor is the sequel to Sacred and i already know its going to be amazing, cant wait to see where the series goes next

Beauty Awakened by Gena Showalter. ~review by alice

Beauty Awakened (Angels of the Dark, #2)Beauty Awakened by Gena Showalter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

~BOWS~ to the master writer that is GENA SHOWALTER!!!
i have never picked up a book of hers that i havent loved and this one is no exception
this series is simply amazing, and i love how it has some of the characters from her Lords OF the Underworld series.
this story follows koldo, who is just so tormented by what happened to him as a kid it makes your heart break. he is a killer but at the same time so gentle, expecially with nicola the heroine and boy was she kickass in the end.
nicola and her twin sister were born with heart defects and as such they couldnt do much, turns out it was more of a demon problem than anything.
i loved every scene with koldo and nicola, watch the sparks fly :) also loved catching up with prior characters from both series, and man oh man that ending, makes me want Kane's book.
love the world that gena creates, its really draws you in from page one and makes you feel so much, from laughter to tears and everything in between.
eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
thank you harlequin for sending me this in exchange for an honest review
