Hooked by Liz Fichera (review by alice)

HookedHooked by Liz Fichera
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

thank you harlequin for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
May Contain Spoilers

This book had me hooked from page one, i ended up reading it in one sitting.
Never read a book about golf before because i always thought it was boring, but the way this book is written and the way the golf scenes were written werent boring at all. loved it :)

Fredericka (fred) Oday lives for her golf, she is awesome lead character and her chapters i loved to read, loved getting a better insight into her life, her life on the reservation and at high school, she doesnt let any of the guys from the golf team intimidate her at all, she gives as good as she gets.

Ryan Berenger the other lead voice in this book is swoon worthy, like all male leads should be lol. but he also has his fair share of stuff ups in how he interacts with Fred. his friend seth, jealous of getting kicked of the golf team and he makes freds life horrible. ryan doesnt do anything to help, in the beginning, then when things look up for ryan and fred, a series of misconmunications makes things worse for them. in the end it works out for the better.

the writing style of this book was so easy to read and made it very difficult to put down. i really loved how Fred and Ryans chapters had different fonts in the book, that made it different and fun.

i definitly cannot wait for Played, Sam and Riley's book. they were fun characters, expecially riley, cant wait to know more about her. will definitly be keeping my eye on all future books from this author. loved her debut and i cant wait to see what she writes next.

Recommend this book to everyone who loves a good YA Contemporary book.

Under the never sky series by Veronica Rossi ((spoiler alart))

Don't read this review if you have not read both books in the under the never sky series. While I try not to have spoilers there is always a chance I let something slip.

Under the never sky series by Veronica Rossi

1. Under the never sky

2. Through the ever night

Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky

Review by Annmarie.

There is something beautiful about this series so far from the well build and imaginative place that the author has point together. From the moment i picked up book one to the moment i put down book two i knew that this series has to be one of my favorites. There are so many amazing authors and books out there that readers are raising the bar when reading books, now they want more action and romance they want everything and i felt this series so far really for me ticks all the boxes. The books in the series are unlike all other teen books and that’s what i liked how different and amazing the the books are.

The storyline in the books follows Aria how is from the Reverie and Perry Both characters are strong and exciting leads both very different. Over the two books you really see a massive change in Aria that helps you understand and like her more. Perry is already a strong guy when you meet him and it's the softer side and love that come out that makes readers stop and see more to him than just hunt and kill. The Story is packed full of detail and information that helps you visualize the places the characters go and the character you meet through the series so far. It's the detail and time on each page that pulls you into the book and holds you to the end.

Now for me the parts that stand out and make you breathless in wonder has to be the Aether storms the description and time really worked for me and I found that I thought of it even if I was not reading the book. There was also the relationship between Aria and perry in the first book was simply one of a kind there was no rush between them and i felt the author left us enough time to really love each character before bring them together but what got me was Roar. Roar in the first book was funny and you could not help but like him but in book two he has grown and then he and Aria become close and it’s horrible for me to say but normally with love triangles readers find it easy to pick the guy they like but if this heads for an Aria, Perry and Roar love triangle I can’t say i would pick Perry there is just something about Roar that pulls me so much more that Perry. (Don’t Shoot me)

As a whole this series so far is one of the best and everyone should read it.

Night school series by C. J. Daugherty

Night school Series by C. J. Daugherty

Allie's world is falling apart...
She hates her school. Her brother has run away. And she's just been arrested.
Again.
Now her parents are sending her away to a boarding school where she doesn't know a soul.
But instead of hating her new school, Allie finds she's happy there. She's making friends. And then there's Sylvain, a suave French student who openly flirts with her. And Carter, the brooding loner who seems to have her back.
Soon, though, Allie discovers Cimmeria Academy is no ordinary school. Nothing there is as it seems. And her new friends are hiding dangerous secrets

Review by Annmarie
Hi all I know it's been a while since i did a review but I'm back and hoping to get back into the swing of it.

I just finished book one and two in the night school series and here is my thoughts on the books

The books are about Allie she spends a lot of her time out late getting into trouble before her mum and dad ship her off to a school in the middle of nowhere and that's where the story really starts.
Not only is the school some posh place that seems to only take legacy students and people with power there is also no tv, mobiles or anything like that aloud *shock horror* so teens have to make fun of their own night sports and other weird things seem to be on the cards. Allie soon settles in and that's when the secrets and mystery starts to unfold.

I really like the build up in each book. There is a lot of Mystery and secrets that for the base of this book and help you get into it. There are also loads of teen drama and lust around the school. I love the build up and excitement in each book and watching the characters change and progress like they grow into them selves. While on a normal day this would not be my normal pick in books there is a lot to love about the series.

Now lets move onto the faults we all love them. Each book builds up to a big finish but i did feel that the end was a little rushed and there was times i could really slap Allie for being so stupid but there was no massive problems and apart from me picking holes.

I would give the series 4 stars and can't wait for the next book.

Doug Dillon Blog Tour

Welcome to best book's stop on this tour
On the blog today we have a summary of the book, links to the book and a giveaway at the end :)

Sliding Beneath the Surface
A quick summary with no real spoilers

In old St. Augustine, Florida, fifteen-year-old Jeff Golden’s recurring dream of being stabbed in the chest and bleeding all over his bed is driving him crazy. It’s causing him to lose sleep and giving him severe headaches. When his psychically gifted friend Carla and an ornery Native American shaman named Lobo try to help, Jeff is inundated with terrifying paranormal experiences.

Reaching out of Florida’s distant past, something increasingly entangles Jeff in tentacles of danger that threaten his sanity and eventually his life. But the harder he tries to understand, the deeper he gets. When comprehension finally dawns though, time has almost run out. Lobo does his best to prepare Jeff for what he must face in order to survive but it may be too little and too late.

It’s at this point that both Jeff and Carla find themselves swept headlong into an alternative reality from which they may never return. If they don’t quickly and fully adapt to this situation, all hope is lost. From Lobo they know how it might be possible to change what is happening but the question is, can they? Repeatedly, Lobo has told both teens, “You create your own reality whether in this world or in another.” If acted upon properly, that advice just might save their lives and end suffering on an even wider scale.
