There are some really good books out this month and here are a few i have added to my wish/buy list.

one word for this book AMAZING!!!!
the characters you really feel for. i really connected with ISIS, she was just a wonderful lead character and i really felt for her and her problems.
what can i say about the males in this book, OMG SWOON WORTHY the lot of them but expecially david :)
this book was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, i was laughing, crying, wanting to throw the book across the room.
the way nely wrote this book, i felt as if i was there, living this book.
and OMG that ending!!!! i need book two now!!!
this book i highly recomend to EVERYONE. go out and buy it!!!!
this storyline is completly different to anything i have ever read and was hooked by the prologue. please nely finish book two so i can devour it :)

My Review

 WOW AMAZING BOOK. i read this book in one sitting.
the writing style and the way i connected with the characters had me hooked from page one. i loved the way the author keeps you guessing as to what each character is, and i must say my mind was blown away by karl. definitly a adult book as it has swearing and some lovely sex scenes in it lol. but i loved this book and am definitly going straight into the others i have in the series :)
cannot wait to read more books from dianna hardy :)

My review
 who knew that when i first opened up the witching pen this morning on my ereader that i wouldnt be able to put it down until i had read all 3 ebooks that i had gotten for review.
this series is simply amazing. i love all the characters and their stories. it has some pretty steamy sex scenes in them too :) cannot wait until the 3rd book comes out. and i know il definitly be buying the ominbus when it comes out in paperback. this one is a keeper. and i cant wait to read more books by this author in the future :)

Rebirth of the chosen by Robert S Sadler

I’m finding it really hard to write my review for this book I really hope I can find words to show how much I really loved this book. The book goes into great details which helped the flow of the book. The characters were brilliantly put together and Q was such a simple amazing main Character that I could not help but love him and hope for the best the whole way though. 

While I really did love the book as a whole as a reviewer you normally find that there is something that stands out most for you and for me it was the storyline as a whole. It was not rushed but was greatly action packed and while there was romance it was not over done. I found that I was excited about the way the whole story played out and found myself holding my breath to know what was going to happen next. The characters worked so well together and seems to click into place like puzzle bits and there was such great detail in the action parts that I felt like part of the book and was standing watching the whole thing. I was speechless by the time I finished the book unable to form words about what I had just read and as a book reviewer I take that as a good sign that the book blow me away. 

Another thing they say when evil rises up it’s the people that stand up before that evil without having to that are the real hero’s and I found that Q really covered the whole hero rising. He was something really spectacular and while there were other characters I loved it was him that really shined the brightest. 

The book as a whole was out of this world amazing I will give it 5 stars hands down I would give it more if Goodreads had more stars to give. This book is not for younger readers but for those of you who are looking for an amazing book full of action, dark creatures and a blow your mind storyline you need to read this.

“Girl Power: Reimagining Persephone”

Thank you, Annemarie, for inviting me to do a guest post for Best Books. I’m excited to be here and appreciate the opportunity.

You asked me to write about how this book came to be. One of the main sources of inspiration for this series was the Greek myth of Persephone. The myth is about a teenage girl who is kidnapped by, and forced to wed, Hades (god of the Underworld). When her mother, Demeter (goddess of agriculture), discovers that her daughter has been abducted, she withholds her gifts and everything withers and dies. This forces the gods to make a deal with her. They agree to let Persephone live above ground with Demeter for part of the year and with Hades the other part.

I’ve always been fascinated and bothered by this story. I don’t like the fact that Persephone is powerless and is not given a say in her own fate. It also gives short shrift to the amazing energy and power young women have. There is more to Persephone than the way she looks, but the myth doesn’t tell you that.

It was exciting for me to realize that if I didn’t agree with the myth I could rewrite it! In my retelling, it’s Persephone (Cora) who has the power to make things grow and she brings it to the underworld, which will cause all kinds of trouble for the bad guys. In the Imperfect Darkness series Hades (who we know as “the voice”) has something to do with Cora’s arrival in the underworld, but their attraction is mutual and he never forces her to do anything. When they finally meet, in book three, Cora is pursuing him (rather than the other way around).

A lot of authors are reimagining fairy tales and myths. And the female characters are refreshingly strong, brave, powerful, smart, resourceful women who are making an impact, and shaping their futures. The girls who were locked away in towers are smashing down the walls and rescuing themselves (and maybe a prince along the way). I’m excited to be one of those authors and hope readers enjoy what I’ve done with Persephone.

p.s. I reference a LOT of other myths and stories in this series, so you’ll see glimmers of other heroines, heros, and monsters. I had a lot of fun riffing on my favorite stories and creating an entirely new world for the reader to explore. 

The White Oak by Kim White

My rating: 5 of 5 stars


This book started in a fast paced and drama filled way. Cora is sucked into a sinkhole at her father’s grave within seconds Cora her brother and grandmother are sucked into the blackness of the ground. Cora soon is on the rollercoaster ride of her life after being spite out into a river below the sinkhole that is really the entrance to the underworld. A place filled with danger and death Cora is faced with having to work out what’s going on and will she be able to get out alive before it’s too late.

This book was action packed from the very begging you get the basic story line for the character then zoom your right into an epic story that was not only fun and exciting but nonstop danger and fear. I loved Cora and her brother they made such great characters to read about and the people they meet along the way could only be described as brilliant.

The story was at times dark but the detail and love that went into the book shined through the whole time I could almost see the underworld like I was there myself. Where the book was based in the underworld you would think that much death would bring the book down but in truth I felt that the author wrote the book as death is not the end just a new begging to a story that’s ongoing simply wonderful.

I have no faults with this book and for me it was everything I needed in a book a great start to a new and imaginative series.

The power of six by Pittacus Lore review

Review 

After reading book one and absolutely loving it I thought there was no way book two could be any better and boy was I wrong! 

The author introduces a few more characters into this expanding story. I loved that the book followed from the last and did not just go straight to another character like some series do. I enjoyed the way the book moved from one set of characters to the other which in my view kept things fresh and flowing. 

You really learn the extent of the Mogadorian’s reach on earth and how the odds are really against the remaining Lorien race. I felt that I had a lot of questions answered yet i still had more I need to be answered which kept me glued to the book. 

There was a lot of great interaction between characters and the drama and emotion building throughout the book. The more the characters bloom in the book the more danger you feel looming from all sides and it left with this feeling of anticipation for what was to come. 

I can happily say this has to be one of my favorite series i have read so far and i can’t wait to see what the author writes next. This series has so far only gone from strength to strength which give me good feelings about the rest of the series.

I am number four by Pittacus Lore review

This book has one amazing storyline and here a quick sum up of it. Book Decripson from back cover.

In the beginning we were nine. We left when we were very young, almost too young to remember. Almost. And now...Three are gone. We are here to keep our race alive, Which was almost entirely obliterated. We’re just trying to survive. Six are left. But we are hunted, and the hunters won’t stop until they’ve killed us all. They caught number one in Malaysia. Number two in England. And number three in Kenya. I am number four. I know i am next.

The first thing that grabbed me was how fast this book went headlong into the action pack storyline that had me as a reader super excited. Number four was a fantastic lead character you easily felt for him and the fact his life has been full of fear and upheaval. He always struggles to be unnoticed and fit in with the fact his much more than some simple human and the author lets you see and understand what his life is like and I completely loved that. I loved the element of survival and what lengths they have to go to to keep ahead of the race that are going to kill all the Lorien’s on earth.

There was lots of great information about both Lorien’s people and the mogadorians which helped you completely understand the war and how this book followed from that and why you found yourself cursing the mogadorian people.

The book unfolds and builds up in a way that held you're interested as well as keeping you on the edge of your seat. The whole book blows me away but the ending of this book was simply phenomenal!

I will happily give this book 5 stars and would recommend to others and reread the book myself.

I knew as soon as I started this book I would love it! Glory and Lucus make for two amazing characters. Glory has always hoped that she would some day become a witch like most of her other relatives so when she finally get her wish you think she would be overjoyed but being a witch is not all it’s cracked up to be. When the Inquisition hunts unlicensed witch's down and the head coven leader has his own plans for you, life looks more like a danger than fun. Then Lucas the son of the Chief Prosecutor for the Inquisition gets the Fae the same day as Glory and two lives are turned upside down.

I have to say the storyline was something new and very different while I would normally think of a group of witch’s as a coven in this book I come to think of them as a gang. People feared and respected them and I enjoyed seeing how the author made witches much more modern and fun to read about. I like how the normal humans cope by making police that deal with the witch population. The Inquisition that hunts the unlicensed witch and burn the evil ones.

I soon come to see that normal people see the Fae as like a horrible virus that changes normal humans into a witch. While I thought of it as a gift I could understand that witch craft might seem scary to those that could not use it. The book held a magical Quilty but it had to be the family life and drama that really got me. The way Glory was with her family and how they worked together and then Lucus that has always been so shore of his future than having to confront the fact his whole life has changed.

Excellently crafted book which lots of love and enjoy.
The book was a massive hit for me and I would happily reread and recommend to others.

A Million Suns by Beth Revis

I really enjoyed book one across the universe so I was overjoyed to get my hands on the next book A million suns.

Godspeed is dealing with the after mouth of the last book. Eldest is dead and Elder now is in charge the drug that normally keeps everyone under control has been taken away giving Godspeed people back their freedom but things are worse than ever. People are angry and lash out while others have slipped into a deep depression. Elder struggles to keep order and control over the people he's meant to look after. While Amy is grappling with her fear and loneliness. After what Luthor nearly did to her that horrible act still lingers in her mind and is only made worse by the fact that people on Godspeeds seem half out of their mind by their new freewill.

I can honestly say that book two was even better than book one. I found that I really loved the growing suspense and mystery. Orion leaves a trail of bream crumbs for Amy to follow I was so excited by the thought of finally knowing the big secret I was not disappointed. Even with Orion is frozen and out of harms way he still very much involved with the book and still in his own way making trouble which kind of made me smile that he's still very much in everyone's minds.
There are also lots of drama regarding the shift of power and that leads to a lot of nail biting confrontation. I was gripped completely by the story the author wove and the emotions that were running so high in the book. People are at their craziest and ready to do some stupid things.
I have to say when I finally got to the end I was open mouthed in shock. The things that had happened and by the way the book ended has left me with this burning desire to know what will happen next.

Beth Revis is one amazing writer and she has to be one of my favourite authors. While I’m reading her books nothing else exist but space and Godspeed.

Penguin Children’s Books today announced a global publishing deal for the critically acclaimed app, Whale Trail.

Eric Huang, Publishing Director, Media & Entertainment Group, has acquired publishing rights (world rights all languages) for Puffin. Created by digital design studio, ustwo, Whale Trail is a psychedelic, surreal and highly addictive flying game. Players control Willow the Whale through a magical rainbow world, dodge angry clouds and escape the evil Baron von Barry. Whale Trail also includes a soundtrack by Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals.

Partnering with ustwo to create the narratives for the books, a digital picture book will be released October 2012 followed by further publishing - both digital and physical formats - in 2013. Hello everyone, my name is Robert Sadler and I have recently released the first in a series of books titled Rebirth Of The Chosen. I would like to talk about the book a little bit today starting with the identity of the main character and how he was developed.

Quillen Ware, or Q as he prefers to be called, is a monster of a man physically. Surprisingly, he has spent much of his life silently suffering because of his sheer size and power. While Q has had the luxury of walking through life without fear of any man, he has spent his life lonely and isolated. Ok, this is where it gets interesting. Q’s personality and emotional state is based on mine. This is something I’ve never said aloud before.

At 6’6” and over 300lbs I am a very large and intimidating man, the fact that I am a no nonsense guy and speak my mind only adds to the problems. Throughout my life I have found that most men (especially short ones) are either afraid of me or intimidated by me. My old fashioned sense of loyalty has made it difficult to keep friends.

On the flip side it takes a strong, confident woman to look past my outward appearance. I needed a woman that could see through my brash, confident nature and find the sensitive, passionate, and at times insecure man hidden beneath. This is the power of Q’s character. While Q is powerful and confident, a natural born leader of men he is also afraid of making mistakes, of making poor choices and hurting the wrong people along the way.

Writing about Q is second nature to me because in a way he is me. I can put myself in his place and say, “What would I do? What would I say?” Creating his companions was as simple as asking myself, “Who would you want to surround yourself with? What kind of men would you trust to watch your back?” The women I created in the book are both the kind I would desire physically, as well as the ones that would terrify me just to approach. It gives the relationships and the interactions an emotional reality that I love.

Creating the protagonists was just as natural. What do I hate about mankind? What traits make me angry and disturb me more than any others? These qualities are in the mindset and make up the very foundation of my villains. Cruelty, selfishness, exploitation and an all encompassing desire for total dominance drive them to be what they are. While the book is full of paranormal elements and creatures ranging from gnomes and trolls to the more traditional vampires and shape shifters—I want the readers to see through the edge of your seat action and the steamy passion to what lies beneath it all. I can only hope that people feel the emotion I tried to instill in each character, to understand what drives them and what events and circumstances have shaped them.

I would like to start by saying I normally only really read young adult books so it was a nice change to read something for adult readers and it was such a magnificent book.

There were a LOT of interesting and exciting characters in the book and while I really enjoyed reading about them what I fell in love with was the story that blazed through the whole book. The mystery that surrounded Jane in her quest to find out the truth about herself. Who is this strange old fashioned talking young women and why are all her memories so fragmented. I loved reading as the story unfolded into something so jaw droppingly stunning.

There was religion in the book but do not be put off there is the demonic horror folded in with the story that will give you chills to the bone. The whole way through the book I was on the edge of my seat waiting to learn the truth. I could feel myself getting excited the closer I got to the end knowing I would soon know everything and oh my goodness what a conclusion this book had. I know one this book will linger in my mind for weeks to come.

A fantastic mix of mystery, supernatural, faith and horror all combined together to make one hell of a book!
