Wolf Springs Chronicles – Unleashed by Nancy Holder and Debbie Virguie

AWESOME! That is what comes to mind after reading this amazing story. It has a beautiful cover and I am a huge fan of Nancy Holder’s work.

This story is perfect for the werewolf fans out there. It starts with a bang as the main character, Katelyn, has to move away from her home after a tragic disaster and is the new kid in Wolf Springs High. She lives with her gruff grandfather that I didn’t like much at all from the start but as the story develops I liked all the characters involved in Katelyn’s new world.

 Romance and mystery made me kept reading, not wanting to put it down for a second. There is of course, like any great romance story, a love triangle that comes to light and I was torn between the two boys that seemed to have captured the heart of our main character.

There are many strange things that happen in that woodsy town Katelyn has to live in and the more she searches out the truth behind things the more she discovers that seem to be impossible. This story makes you think ‘werewolf’ even without having to use the word. It was so well written that the reader could make the connections to certain things without boring explanations from characters and that stood out for me.

The one thing I hated about this story was it ended in a cliffhanger! Seriously! I have no patience at all and now I can’t wait to see what happens to Katelyn and who would she choose: Trick, the rebel boy with the shocking eyes and easy-going manner or Justin, the hunky guy with the mysterious family and a secret that he shares with Katelyn that runs to disasters…

These talented authors have done it again at telling a story that I wouldn’t forget anytime soon and it is always a pleasure to read their magical words that have been put on paper.

The lost prince is the start of a new series but spins off from the iron fey series. Ethan is the half brother of the iron queen and while his human he still has the sight to see all the beings of the nevernever. Ethan’s life change the day he was kidnapped as a kid by the iron king his sister came and saved him but ended staying in the nevernever.
Ethan burns with rage now older and having zero contacted with his sister, he blames the fey for taking her away from him and his family and for making his life a living hell. He tries to keep himself away from everything fey related but they know he can see and the target him. He's learned to be a loner cutting himself off but something new show up and Ethan’s thrown right back into a world that he's been trying hard to forget about but this time will he make it out alive.

The author has a magical way with words because from start to finish I was hooked to this book. I found it easy to care about Ethan I already knew him from the iron fey series but back then he was a fun loving happy kids that loved his sister more than anything, now his lonely and tormented. The fey seem hell bent on taking everything away and hurting him whenever they can. I loved that you really got to know Ethan and understand why he is the way he is.

The storyline in this book was brilliant and to a high standard that I have come to love from this author. There was a great blend of heart pounding action and adventure that had me glued to my seat. There was such imagination put into each character and every new place that you can see everything unfold before your eyes. I laughed, cried and was shocked at times and i loved every single page and i did not want the story to every end.

This book was a joy ride for the imagination, heart stopping action that never stopped and a story that linger well after you had finished the book

Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

This book has an interesting and beautiful cover which is how it grabbed my attention from the start. Good thing it had a great story within. It is told through the eyes of Bethany, an angel who grows to love being a human more than she thought she would, and to top it all off she falls for a boy in her school who makes her feel like she could fly without the help of her angelic wings. Bethany struggles with her human feelings for the boy and so this concerns her, especially when the other angels find out about them. Not only does she have to fight her own heart but there is an evil in town that only the angels could hope to defeat. 

Bethany is an easily relatable character and her modesty makes it easier to like the beautiful angel. It is interesting to see how she experiences everyday human things that we take for granted; it is refreshing and makes one think. This story even gave me some hope of finding that one person who would complete me and love me no matter what. 

The other characters, like the two other angels and the mortal boy Xavier she falls in love with, were all very well written and they tied the whole story together. I was at first a bit hesitant to get this book but now I know it was worth it. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down; I wanted to know what happened next and I wanted more. 

I am sure I’ll get its sequel, Hades, to read one day as well because things could only get more interesting. The book ended leaving me wanting more and that is a great quality in an amazing novel. Alexandra is a talented author who knows how to tell a story that you can picture perfectly. I can’t wait to read more of her work.

Just Breathe by Susan Wiggs

I actually started Susan Wigg’s Just Breathe a long time ago and I recently unearth it from the underside of my bed. After the first few pages, I remembered that I had indeed started it, but wasn’t sure how far I had gotten.

It’s the story of Sarah Moon, a comic strip writer, and her husband Jack, an architect, trying to have a child. Unfortunately Sarah is having a very difficult time getting pregnant, so she and Jack decide to go and get fertility treatments in hopes that it will increase her chances for having a child. While all this is going on her husband Jack gets sick, and Sarah must put her plans on hold in order to care for him.

After Jack gets well, they continue on with trying to get pregnant and go on with their everyday lives. Sarah continues to write her comic strip where art imitates life and Jack designs and builds houses. The tedium is getting to Jack and unbeknownst to Sarah her marriage to Jack is slowly unraveling. The proverbial light bulb goes on when one day Sarah decides to visit her husband at one of his jobsites. What she finds is not what she was expecting – Jack with another woman. Fleeing the scene she goes home completely devastated. Knowing now that her marriage is over she decides to leave and go home to California.

With the help of her family and the people in the community, she begins to start her life over. She reconnects with her high school friends and their families. She also meets up with Will Bonner, a boy she once had a thing for in high school, and his daughter, Aurora. Trying to settle into a new life, Sarah discovers that she is finally pregnant. Big surprise!

The rest of the story is how Sarah deals with all of this, including how she copes with her soon to be ex-husband, his family and the impending birth of her child. Susan Wiggs has a wonderful way of developing the back story of the story as there are plenty of back stories in this novel – Will and Aurora, Will and his firefighting crew, Aurora and her friends, Sarah and her Dad/Grandmother.

Many of you might wonder why I chose this book as the Reading Romances Challenge for March. While on the surface, it wouldn't appear to be a romance, but as the reader, you really need to look deeper and I think you'll see why I believe this is a true romance...in disguise. Love is lost, love is a blessing, love is renewed and love is found...all found within these pages. If that is romance, then I don't know what is! 

This book has an easy flow and despite the 472 pages, it doesn’t seem intimidating. In fact, my interest was piqued throughout the entire book and once I got back into it again, I was hooked. The author, Susan Wiggs, has a way of providing just enough information on the page to keep the reader wanting to turn the page. The thing that I enjoyed the most about the book was the comic strips inserted into the novel. I wished there had been more. In fact, I would have liked to seen the entire strip! Read this one, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Breed of innocence by Lanie Jordan 

WOW! What an incredible story. I couldn’t put it down the minute I started reading it. It had everything a great book needs: action, adventure, monsters, monster hunters and a tiny splash of romance that was just enough to get by. The one thing that was the best on top of everything was the fantastic characters. 

Jade, the main character, starts out as a demon hunter at a secret “demon hunting high school” and soon becomes known as the one to beat. Her character is kick ass with a good sense of humour. She meets a handsome boy, Linc, and they hit it off right away, figuratively and literally since they met when they had to fight each other as a demonstration. 

The reason Jade joined this place was to avenge the death of her family that had been murdered by a demon in her past. Still haunted by their deaths in her nightmares and struggling to stay alive while searching for their killer, Jade makes some great friends who are easily likable but she also gains enemies. 

Many readers would think that these demons are like all the others they have read about; evil beings that look human at times and eat people, but in this book they are different. All the monsters, whether they are vamps or some gruesome looking things, are called demons in general and it was nice to see the author’s imagination bloom through this tale as I met monsters I have never heard of. 

This story got more and more interesting as I kept reading and I didn’t want it to end. I kept wondering will Jade have a relationship with Linc or will they stay close friends? Will she find the demon that took away her family? Will she succeed even though the world seemed to be against her? 

I don’t regret losing hours of sleep because of this book and I recommend it to everyone and anyone who are huge fans of the supernatural. Those that are Vampire Academy fans would love this story and it is great to see something different for a change from the clichéd books about monsters out there. 

I give this 5/5 stars from my side. The author is very talented and doesn’t waste time with boring explanations or character descriptions. A must-have read that I loved!

The Iron fey series by Julie Kagawa

This series was truly one to be read.

The Authors imagination oozed though every book and glued readers to every page. 

Each character in this book is vivid in your mind and lingers long after you finished the series and I can say without a second thought this is one of my favorite series I have read. 

Likes: 

I loved the writing style of this book and all the amazing detail that made reading this book so amazing. Each character felt so real and you could almost see the characters before your eyes. 

The action and adventure in each book blow you away and left you begging for the next book in the series.

I read the whole series within a week and my mind was spinning from the books. 

I could tell the author had put so much love and poured her thoughts into this series maybe it one series you should not miss. 

Dislikes:  

Disliked that I have now finished the series I'm really hoping there will be another book or series based in this world because i could not cope with this world coming to an end so soon. 

A five star series.

My Review

When I first heard about this book on goodreads, I was really intrigued as it sounded so different to any book I had ever read, astral projection sounds cool huh.  Well it was until the main character was astrally projecting to check on something major that was happening, and while she was “out” of her body, a dead classmate inhabits her body and leaves her with nothing.  Anna is left with no body to go back too and a huge mystery that she can solve since she saw it happen, but now that this dead girl is in her body, shes spinning her tale of what happened.

Sounds intriguing doesn’t it, well I loved this book from page one. The way the author writes it makes you feel and “see” as if you are actually there with the characters.

Anna, she was just a fun wonderful character, that had some serious issue going on at home.

Rei, was a total swoon worthy male :)  he was really fun to read about, loved his lil sister too :)

Highly recommend this book to everyone.  And I personally cannot wait to read more books from this author in the future :)

T.M. Goeglein began his career as a writer of print and television ads for a host of advertising and media companies. As a screenwriter, he created both original scripts and worked as a script doctor for several production companies in Los Angeles. SPOILERS!!!!!

First off thanks to penguin USA for supplying this ARC for review

I really did enjoy this book,I read it in one sitting, the book arrived today and started it straight away.  When I started it, I had a few WTF moments, as I thought It would go straight into sara jane being 16 and her parents missing and her having to unravel the family secrets to discover who she and her family really are. But nope for the first hundred pages or so, it was sara jane going back over memories from when she was a kid, starting at age 6.  these memories serve to give us the reader a look into who sara jane and her family are, also who her friends are.  While in the end I did like the going back memories thing, in the beginning I didn’t like it and I very nearly gave up on the book. But im glad I didn’t and kept reading it.  Sara jane is a very likeable character who is kick-ass J she loves to box and loves old movies.  She has a female friend Gina, shes there but not really, kinda the gossip that you love but don’t always want to be around. Then there is doug, the loveable shy overweight kid, I really loved his character, he was funny and also someone some people can relate too. Then there is max, the hot guy,  he was also a wonderful character.

This book is about sara jane who’s family goes missing, and that’s when she discovers that her family is in way over the top in the mafia.  This isn’t normally what would interest me in a book, but the way  the author wrote it and describes the hierarchy and how things are done it was really interesting. There were some interesting characters, not all of them good, and poor sara jane goes thru a lot before the end of the book.  Does she find her family or doesn’t she. Well you will have to read it to find out J

In the end I ended up really enjoying it and I will definitely be reading the next book to find out more about sara jane, her family and all the secrets.

T.M Goeglein is definitely a fresh new YA author to look out for, and I definitely cannot wait to read more books from this author. Totally different book to anything I have ever read.  Two thumbs up J

one word for this book AMAZING!!!!
the characters you really feel for. i really connected with ISIS, she was just a wonderful lead character and i really felt for her and her problems.
what can i say about the males in this book, OMG SWOON WORTHY the lot of them but expecially david :)
this book was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, i was laughing, crying, wanting to throw the book across the room.
the way nely wrote this book, i felt as if i was there, living this book.
and OMG that ending!!!! i need book two now!!!
this book i highly recomend to EVERYONE. go out and buy it!!!!
this storyline is completly different to anything i have ever read and was hooked by the prologue. please nely finish book two so i can devour it :)
