The Gathering (Darkness Rising #1) by Kelley Armstrong review-annmarie

i recommend this book
may include spoilers be warned!

Sixteen-year-old Maya is just an ordinary teen in an ordinary town. Sure, she doesn't know much about her background - the only thing she really has to cling to is an odd paw-print birthmark on her hip - but she never really put much thought into who her parents were or how she ended up with her adopted parents in this tiny medical-research community on Vancouver Island.

Until now.

Strange things have been happening in this claustrophobic town - from the mountain lions that have been approaching Maya to her best friend's hidden talent for "feeling" out people and situations, to the sexy new bad boy who makes Maya feel . . . . different. Combine that with a few unexplained deaths and a mystery involving Maya's biological parents and it's easy to suspect that this town might have more than its share of skeletons in its closet.

My review.

I love Kelley Armstrong she is one of my favourite authors so i was super excited about this series which carries on from the darkest powers series while the people are in it are different it’s still based in the same world which worked really well for me.

I thought the story was well thought out and while it was not a fast into the action story it was put together well in a way that kept me engrossed in the book. I liked that it was all based in a small town and that everyone knew one and other but what i liked best was how the characters worked so well together. There was so much to like about the start of this new series and i feel that the next book is going to be even better. I do hope that maybe the characters from the darkest power series and this series might cross paths somewhere in the series but if not im just happy to be in the same world.

I will say that i did really like the book and i zoomed through the pages like a mad person i would love to give the book the whole five stars but i don’t think i can but i will give the book four and half stars. The reason i want give it the fall mark is that i felt more could have happened in some parts of the book but that’s just me being picking.

4half stars out of 5
