🌶️🌶️ 2 on the spice scale
First off, massive bravo! Easy five stars.
I was hooked pretty much from the first chapter. I loved the world-building, and I ate up all the banter like a kid at Christmas. The story was so easy to read, with lots going on, but not to the point where I felt like I needed a notebook and a satnav just to follow it.
I was up until 4 a.m. devouring the book like my life depended on it. By the end, I was a shocked, sweaty mess, desperate for another chapter or even just one more page because I didn’t want it to end. And by the gods, that ending was amazing. It left me with a deep, aching need to read book two.
There is spice in the book, mostly in the second half rather than the first. But I didn’t feel let down not at all. The story and its easy, engaging flow had me as happy as a sunbeam.
