🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3 Spice
After the first book, pulling up the willpower to read book two was a full workout, but here we are again.
I struggled from the get-go. At points, everything felt draggy, and the characters were whiny and so see-through it was really hard to be invested in the book. I felt like a lot of this could have been dealt with if some characters opened their mouths and talked.
I hated that our FMC, Alira, went from super strong starting this series to meek and stayed that way until it was fitting for the story, and it felt cheap and left a lot to be desired. It was hard to like anyone, really, and the one character I did like was not in the story throughout.
There were questions left unanswered, and the end felt... flat. I was not even pulled in by the spice. In fact, I felt like the spice was thrown in willy-nilly.
I did read it, but at times it was a FIGHT to keep what I was reading in my head. It's sad because the writing style was easy to read, but even the little wins I found could not hold this book up.
