Please welcome james to the blog, welcome james and thank you for coming today
I remember as a kid, I would always doodle on paper with silly drawings of my favorite cartoon characters. I penciled likenesses of Bart Simpson, Ninja Turtles, Garfield, Fred Flinstones, Scooby-Doo and so on. When I was turning 10 years old, I really got into comics. Not just reading them but trying to draw how the artists would draw these larger-than-life characters. In the sixth grade, all my friends were basically into comics and drawing. We loved it so much that we created our own super-hero and even made a 20 page homemade comic book. I continued to draw until I got into college. I got me a full-time job and found myself not having enough free time to do what I loved to do. I unknowingly placed my pencils and papers away and almost forgot the joys of drawing. After about 10 years later, I began to draw again. To my surprise I managed to retain the skills I learned as a kid. With this new age of computer animation, I bought my selft a pen/tablet to create drawings on a computer screen. I discovered the joys of drawing all over again. Also, I have matured in choices of my drawing subject and I began drawing characters from novels. This direction provided me with all the possibilities because I am basing my drawing of a character from descriptions in a book. Yes it is a bit more challenging but seeing how you interpret an author’s character on paper is something truly amazing. It is a rush that I get when I have translated an image in my head onto a visual medium for all to see.
